Tottenham lost 4-2 at Wolves on Sunday afternoon in the Premier League and here are our Spurs player ratings.
put out a much-changed team with six fresh faces as they prepare for their Europa League quarter-final second leg at Eintracht Frankfurt on Thursday night and was forced into one change with captain Son Heung-min taking a knock to his foot that needs to heal for him to be available.
Tottenham were travelling to a place in Molineux where they had not won at since 2021 and took on an in-form Wolves side with three straight victories to their name.
Postecoglou brought in Djed Spence, Archie Gray, Ben Davies, Pape Matar Sarr, Mathys Tel and Yves Bissouma, while Dejan Kulusevski returned to the bench after his time out with injury.
Wolves took the lead just over a minute into the game. Guglielmo Vicario weakly punched a free-kick out to Rayan Ait-Nouri, who had all the time in the world to bounce a volley back past the Italian.
Spurs responded well enough with efforts from Bissouma and Brennan Johnson but conceded another calamity goal before the break. A deflected bouncing ball into the box was headed on by Marshall Munetsi and Vicario flapped at the ball and pushed it against Spence and it bounced into the net off the left-back.
Mathys Tel got a goal back before the hour mark. Substitute Lucas Bergvall drove up the pitch, played Johnson down the right and his cross bounced in off the Frenchman and into the net after Nelson Semedo messed up his clearance in front of him.
However, calamity goal number three arrived soon after. Cristian Romero had the ball at his feet but seemed to run past it, which presented it to Ait-Nouri who ran into the box and squared it for Jorgen Strand Larsen to score.
Richarlison came off the bench to get another goal back. Ben Davies headed Bergvall's corner across and Romero nodded it towards goal where Sa tipped it on to the crossbar and Richarlison headed in the loose ball. However, it was barely a minute later when calamity goal number four came along when Bergvall was dispossessed by Matheus Cunha who ran through to score.
Here are our Spurs player ratings after the game at Molineux.
Guglielmo Vicario
Had a horrendous start to the game. His weak punch played its part in Wolves' early opener and then he miskicked a pass to the hosts to almost hand them another. Managed to flap at a headed on bouncing cross before the break and pushed it against Spence and into the net. Couldn't do much about Wolves' third and fourth goals. 2
Archie Gray
Plenty of endeavour without much on the end of it at the other end of the pitch. 5
Cristian Romero
Both he and Davies were nowhere to be seen when the deflected cross bounced into the Spurs box for the second goal. Made an utter mess for Wolves' third, gifting Ait-Nouri the ball with a lacklustre attempt to control it. It was his saved header that was nodded in by Richarlison. Another leader who just wasn't good enough on the day. 3
Ben Davies
Was ball watching for Wolves' second goal and put Spurs in trouble late in the first half with a poor pass. Was involved in Tottenham's second goal but this was not one of his better displays and he was nowhere near stopping Cunha late on. 4
Djed Spence
Went on a few Hollywood runs that ended in lost possession early on but was unfortunate to have an own goal against his name before the break. Tried to make things happened but he wasn't head and shoulders above the rest, especially at the back with some loose passes. 5
Pape Matar Sarr
Made very little impact on the game and came off before the hour mark. 4
Yves Bissouma
Booked within seven minutes. Tested Sa with a shot from distance not long after. So inconsistent in his play, sometimes looks good on the ball, sometimes looks like it's alien to him. 4
James Maddison
Spurs' best player in the first half, which isn't saying much, but he faded in the second period and was sloppy at times in possession. 5
Brennan Johnson
Struggled to make an impact until he fired in the bouncing cross that ended up going in off Tel. It was his unfortunate deflection that led to the second Wolves goal. 4
Dominic Solanke
The usual performance at the moment, lots of effort, very little of the ball. A striker never in the box because the ball is never going to reach there. 3
Mathys Tel
Plenty of eagerness if not quality but managed to make it goals in back-to-back Premier League matches after Johnson's cross struck him and bounced in. 5
Subs
Lucas Bergvall
Played his part in Tel's goal with a driving run up the pitch and brought far more to Spurs' play but there was no need to try to dribble past Cunha in his own half and he was duly caught for the fourth goal which sucked all the momentum out of any potential comeback. 5
Rodrigo Bentancur
Brought far more to the pitch in his half an hour than Bissouma did in the previous hour or so. 6
Richarlison
Grabbed a goal that should have spurred the visitors on but they conceded moments later. 6
Dejan Kulusevski
Back from injury and he showed reminders of what he can bring to the pitch. 5
