IndiGo has announced to start of direct flights to 10 famous cities of the world this financial year, which will include London, the UK, and Denmark as well as cities in South Asia. With this decision, IndiGo will compete with Air India. Currently, Air India operates nonstop flights to cities like London.
IndiGo Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Peter Albers said on Friday that in the current financial year 2025-26, the airline will start direct flights to a total of 10 international destinations including London and Athens. Other destinations include Amsterdam (Netherlands), Manchester (UK), Copenhagen (Denmark), Siem Reap (Cambodia) and four places in Central Asia.
The expansion of infrastructure is supporting this. IndiGo will start operating direct flights from Mumbai to Manchester and Amsterdam with leased Boeing 787-9 aircraft in July. This will also be the beginning of long-haul flights of the airline. The company's revenue is US $ 10 billion. It provides services to more than 90 domestic and 40 international destinations. At the same time, it operates more than 2,300 flights daily with a fleet of more than 430 aircraft.
The airline is growing rapidly abroad - Albers
IndiGo CEO Albers said that 90% of India's population now lives near airports where IndiGo flights are available. This shows that the airline is growing rapidly in India and abroad. In FY 2025, IndiGo plans to launch more than 100 new routes, including 40 foreign cities and 20 Indian cities.
Albers said that India is moving fast, and so is IndiGo. The airline serves more than 1 million passengers every three days and is proud to have India's highest number of female pilots and a strong LGBTQ+ community among its employees.
