What is a fake e-challan scam?

This is a new kind of scam. According to the police, scammers are sending text messages to people who look like they are from the traffic police. The messages state that the recipient has committed a traffic violation and will have to pay the fine. The messages also include a link on which the recipient is instructed to click to pay the fine. After clicking on this link, people are redirected to a fake website. After that, the payment is taken. Apart from this, many times the users' phones are also hacked through the link, and personal information is stolen.

How to identify real and fake e-challan

Hemendra Kumar Meena said that the message of the real challan contains information like engine number, and chassis number. On clicking the link with the message of the real challan, that link redirects the users to the government's official site https://echallan.parivahan.gov.in. The link to the fake site is something like this https://echallan.parivahan.in/. In this, .gov.in has been removed.
