New Delhi [India], November 7 (ANI): The Delhi Police on Wednesday registered an FIR against Aam Aadmi Party MLA Jai Bhagwan Upkar for allegedly assaulting an official of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) during an inspection at a meat house in Shahbad Dairy.
According to the FIR, the alleged incident took place when the official Sunil Kumar Ranga, along with his team, raided illegal slaughterhouses in the Shahbad Dairy area.
According to Delhi Police, the MLA had an alleged scuffle with the MCD employee and started misbehaving.
The MCD official has filed a complaint under BNS section 221/132/352/351(2)/325/3(5)/190/191(2)/121(1) and the Prevention of Cruelty to Animal Act, 1960.
"The officials asked the shop owner, Gul Mohammad, to pay a compensation fee of Rs 37,500, based on Rs 2,500 per goat. However, he refused to pay and instead called his workers and issued threats against the MCD team," the FIR read.
The complainant further stated in the FIR that the AAP MLA, along with former councillor Shraddhanan and others, arrived at the spot, resulting in a verbal and physical altercation.
Further investigations are underway. (ANI)
