Channapatna (Karnataka) [India], November 1 (ANI): Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy on Friday strongly criticised the Congress leader for mocking NDA candidate Nikhil Kumaraswamy who got emotional during a public rally.
"Don't they have tears? If a person cannot shed tears, are they even human?" he said.
During an emotionally charged campaign rally on Thursday, Nikhil Kumaraswamy shared his disappointment over recent electoral losses, attributing them to alleged conspiracies by the Congress in the districts of Mandya and Ramanagar.
Further, in response to Congress leaders pointing out that Nikhil has lost twice, HD Kumaraswamy retorted, "This is Karnataka; anyone can contest anywhere. When Rahul Gandhi thought he might lose in Amethi, didn't he go to Wayanad in Kerala? Priyanka Gandhi could have contested in Uttar Pradesh. Their family has always contested in Amethi and Rae Bareli constituencies. Then why did they go to Kerala? Why are Congress leaders silent on this?"
The Union Minister made these remarks while welcoming Congress leaders who joined JD(S) on Friday.
"As Chief Minister and MLA for five years in Channapatna, I filled water in 107 lakes. Let them check the records. They claim to have filled 17 lakes, but why ignore the 107 that I worked on? Why not tell the truth? The orders are on record--let them see for themselves," HD Kumaraswamy challenged.
HD Kumaraswamy went on to say, "If Deve Gowda hadn't built the Iggalur reservoir, could they have filled those 17 lakes today? That reservoir is a lifeline for the people of Channapatna and Ramanagara taluks. So, what do they call Deve Gowda? What do they call me, who filled water into 107 lakes? Are we going around boasting about being Bhagirathas?" (ANI)
