Ishan Kishan Breaks IPL 2025 Slump with Composed Knock in Chepauk Heat

After a rather patchy period, Friday in the CSK vs SRH match saw Ishan Kishan scoring runs again. He had started the IPL 2025 season with a fantastic century against the Rajasthan Royals but became increasingly inconsistent thereafter. In the seven following games, he didn't cross 17 even once. Kishan concentrated and kept a cool head through a tough Chepauk pitch with pressure mounting.

 

In the previous seven innings leading up to the match against CSK, Kishan had scraped together just 33 runs. The 26-year-old had a challenge thrown to him when SRH needed the victory to stay alive in the playoff race. He walked out chasing 155 on a sluggish track after Abhishek Sharma’s dismissal.

With patience, Kishan carefully built his innings, attacking at selected moments. He found a couple of boundaries off Khaleel Ahmed and rotated the strike to get the score moving. After the departure of Travis Head and Heinrich Klaasen, Kishan took charge again, hitting Sam Curran for two boundaries. He smashed Noor Ahmad for a six and moved into the 40s, carrying SRH's hopes upon his shoulders.

The equation tipped towards SRH's favour before Noor Ahmad returned and put an end to Kishan's steady effort. He scored 44 off 34 balls with five boundaries and a six, and his contribution of close to half the total run score should be looked up to in view of SRH's otherwise aggressive yet inconsistent batting approach that has been under the scanner this season. If anything, Kishan's innings justified the importance of putting your feet down, batting through the innings, and cashing in on free runs. Although he could not finish the game for SRH in the end!

 

Kishan was acquired by SRH for the price of ₹11.25 crore in the auction. So far, in 9 innings, he has scored 183 runs. However, price-wise an apparently good show, 2 games have accounted for 150 of those runs.
