An Air India flight from Mumbai to Newark, AI191, made a precautionary return to Mumbai on Tuesday due to a suspected technical issue.
The Boeing 777 flight to Newark, which departed at around 1:50 am on Wednesday, remained airborne for over three hours before returning to Mumbai, according to flight tracking website Flightradar24.com.
The aircraft landed safely and is now undergoing necessary inspections, airline's spokesperson confirmed.
"“The crew of flight AI191 operating from Mumbai to Newark on 22 October, made a precautionary air-return to Mumbai due to a suspected technical issue. The flight landed safely back in Mumbai, and the aircraft is undergoing necessary inspections," an Air India spokesperson said.
