CM Revanth Reddy orders high alert, detention of illegal foreign nationals in Telangana

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Wednesday directed police officials to remain on high alert and detain Pakistani and Bangladeshi nationals residing illegally in the state. He also instructed them to implement security measures at all Army and Navy offices and to enhance security at all defence establishments in the city.

Reddy, who held a review meeting in the wake of ' Operation Sindoor', instructed officials to cancel leaves of employees of all departments which engage in emergency services and step up surveillance and enhance security in all district headquarters and sensitive areas, an official release said.

The state government has decided to hold a rally in support of the Indian Army on Thursday, which will be attended by the CM and his cabinet colleagues, official sources said.

Reddy also asked the officials to tighten security at all foreign consulates in Hyderabad and enhance security measures at all IT companies, besides the police department should keep an eye on the movements of history sheeters and old criminals.

"The CM ordered police officials to detain Pakistan and Bangladesh nationals who are residing illegally. A communication system should be established in the command and control centre. Strict action will be taken against those who disturb peace and security," the release said.

Revanth Reddy emphasised that a strong message of supporting the Indian Army by the entire nation should be sent out, and political parties should maintain restraint during difficult times.

The officials concerned have been asked to stockpile blood in blood banks and medicines for emergency needs.

Information about the availability of beds in private hospitals should be updated from time to time and strengthened coordination with the Red Cross. Food stocks should also be made sufficient, the release said.

Ministers and officials should cancel all foreign trips, if any, and remain available, it said, adding that stringent action will be taken against those spreading fake news.

A special cell will also be set up to curb misinformation that could cause public anxiety and panic.

A separate release later in the evening said state intelligence teams were directed to coordinate with the central intelligence agency and a special information center will be established to closely monitor the security system from the Command Control Center.

Adequate protection will be provided to foreign tourists visiting Telangana, it said.

"The Chief Minister enquired the officials about the arrangements being made for the supply of essential commodities and asked them to take every step to avoid shortage of essential commodities and no disruption in the supply chain to the people," the second release said.

Revanth Reddy and Deputy CM Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka reviewed the situation after 'Operation Sindoor' and Mock Drill today, it said adding they also reviewed arrangements made for the big rally to be organised from Secretariat to Necklace Road on Thursday evening.

"The CM and Deputy CM called the youth to participate in the rally and express solidarity with the Indian Army," the release said.

Responding to a query about the CM's directive to detain Pakistan and Bangladesh nationals residing illegally, Hyderabad Police Commissioner C V Anand said, "The process is underway and we will list them out... There is a need to identify such individuals, and appropriate measures will be taken accordingly."

He told reporters that police have intensified patrolling in certain areas of the city and remain on high alert.

In Telangana, particularly in the capital region-covering the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA)-there are several defence establishments and vital installations.

Therefore, heightened vigilance is necessary in Hyderabad and surrounding areas, which is why the Chief Minister held a review meeting on Wednesday, the senior police official said.
