These four months are called 'Chaturmas', during this time auspicious works like marriage, housewarming, etc. are considered forbidden.
Lord Shri Hari Vishnu is the director and nurturer of the universe. In such a situation, after Devshayani Ekadashi, the Lord goes into Yog Nidra for a full four months.
