Indore (Madhya Pradesh): A special crackdown was launched on Thursday against unauthorised ambulance operations in the MY Hospital premises. As a result of the action, five ambulances operating illegally were seized.
A special inspection team led by regional transport officer Pradeep Kumar Sharma, ARTO Rajesh Gupta, and transport inspector Jitendra Gurjar, launched a sudden inspection operation in the hospital area and its vicinity. During the inspection, five ambulances were found to be operating without valid documents.
Furthermore, these ambulances were lacking basic medical facilities, which are essential for emergency medical transport. All five ambulances were seized for violating under various sections of the Motor Vehicles Act and have been moved to the RTO premises for safe custody.
Chief executive officer District Panchayat Siddharth Jain said that several ambulance operators in and around the MY Hospital area were allegedly colluding with private hospitals to refer government hospital patients to private facilities.
Taking serious note of the issue, Jain directed officials to conduct a surprise inspection. The district administration has stated that such inspection drives will continue in the future to ensure strict compliance with the law and to protect the interests of patients relying on government healthcare services.
