Maharashtra News: Woman Held In Nalasopara For Running Prostitution Racket; 2 Victims Rescued

Palghar: The Anti-Human Trafficking Cell (AHTC) of the Nalasopara division has successfully apprehended a woman allegedly involved in operating a prostitution racket, leading to the rescue of two victims.

According to Police Inspector Saurabhi Pawar of the AHTC, confidential information was received that a pimp identified as Sheetal Jay Jadhav (45) was contacting clients via her mobile phone and arranging for girls for prostitution.

Acting on this tip-off, the police deployed a decoy customer along with two independent witnesses. As per Jadhav's instructions, the decoy was sent to an agreed-upon location near the No.4 railway platform, Nalasopara East, in the Achole Police Station area.

At approximately 3 pm, a raid was conducted. The accused woman pimp, a resident of Malad West, Mumbai, was found on the spot. She was allegedly in the process of finalizing arrangements with the decoy client and encouraging girls into prostitution, ready to supply them.

Consequently, a case has been registered against Jadhav at Achole Police Station under Section 143(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023, along with Sections 4 and 5 of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956.

The successful operation was carried out under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Mr. Avinash Ambure and Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime) Mr. Madan Ballal. The AHTC team, led by Police Inspector Saurabhi Pawar, included Sub-Inspector Umesh Gawai, Woman Police Head Constable Sakshi Doiphode, Police Head Constables Roshan Kini, Mahendra Shetye, Amit Chavan, Woman Police Head Constable Supriya Tivle, and Police Head Constable Sunil Pagi.
