Mumbai: In a joint inspection conducted on Thursday, the BMC took action on alleged illegal constructions in Kamala Mills compound at Lower Parel. The Building and Factory (B&F) Department demolished an illegally constructed boundary wall created for parking purposes and removed unauthorised sheds erected on open spaces within the premises.
Additionally, the Health Department carried out seizure action against two food establishments Taproom and Tos Pasta Bar for violations of license conditions.

The BMC’s G/South Ward conducted a joint enforcement drive at Kamala Mills compound with officials of various civic departments, including the Mumbai Fire Brigade, B&F and Health department, Encroachment Removal Cell, and the Maintenance department.

As part of the inspection, several prominent establishments including Theobroma, McDonald's, Shiv Sagar Hotel, Nano’s Cafe, Starbucks, Bira Taproom, and Food by Devika were checked for compliance with civic and safety norms.

Bira Taproom, Devika Eatery Sealed for Health License Breach
Following the inspection, the team of the Health department seized Bira Taproom and Food by Devika for violating license conditions, as part of the ongoing crackdown on establishments flouting civic regulations.
"During the inspection, it was observed that these establishments had also encroached upon front open spaces of their premises. The action was taken with the aim of improving fire safety, building regulation compliance, and public safety in the busy commercial area,” said a senior civic official.

In parallel, the B&F department demolished an unauthorised M.S. a compound wall erected for parking in front of BKT House (C building), which was obstructing the layout road exit. Unauthorised sheds and compound walls in the open spaces of Bira Taproom and Food by Devika were also demolished.
