From dancing to cooking, people have all sorts of hobbies, but this one truly stands out. A bizarre Instagram video shared by content creator Akansha Rawat has left the internet divided, showcasing her friend’s unusual yet oddly detailed hobby. What's that? It featured her friend's mosquito collection.
The video mentioned she would swat and kill mosquitoes and collect them on paper, giving each one with a name, date and place of birth, and a few other details.
Strange, isn't it? Absolutely.

Mosquitoes collection
The viral video opened with Rawat discovering her friend's "unique hobby" and announcing it to viewers. Pointing at her friend, she is heard saying in Hindi, “People have weird interests, right? And she has the strangest of them all. Wait, let me show you".
What follows is a sheet of paper, meticulously labelled and sorted, each cell featuring a mosquito taped down. Every insect's record carried its name, time and place of death, and the date it met its end.
"She has extensively killed mosquitoes and given them names and date of death...why?", she added. The girl had no answer, but kept laughing.
Take a look at their names...
From ‘Sigma Boi’ to ‘Ramesh’ and ‘Suresh’, each mosquito was given its own identity. These names were mostly traditional ones from Indian households, including both female and male names. A few mosquitoes found in the collection were Suraj, Tinku, Puja, Babli, and so on...
In the video, Rawat asked the mosquito collector's sister to react on this hobby. "Chi chi. I won't do anything like this", said her younger sister while expressing disgust. Rawat called her friend a "psychopath".
Netizens react
The internet was divided with this content. While some laughed at the unconventional hobby, others found it to be seriously wrong. One user commented, “Who does this? Why?". "Stop. This is disgusting", said another. We used to do this at the back of our notebooks", a few Instagram users recollected.
The video has gone viral on the social media platform. It has 6.7 million views.
