Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Police raided a residential apartment and caught six people belonging to Khandwa and Khargone while they were placing bets for the IPL match of Delhi Capital vs Mumbai Indians in the Juni Indore area, police said on Thursday.
A total of 17 mobile phones and laptops were recovered from them and further investigation is on into the case.
According to the police, ASI Gajendra Singh Yadav from Juni Indore police station had received information that some people were betting online on an IPL cricket match in flat number 401 of Meenakshi Building in Khatiwala Tank area.
Acting on the information, the police team raided the flat under the guidance of senior officers, from where the accused Ajay Yadav, Raviraj Chauhan, LokendraYadav, Lucky Singh Chauhan, all residents of Khandwa (presently resident of Meenakshi Palace Khatiwala Tank), Shakti Raj Tomar resident of Khargone and PremSagar, a resident of Bara district in Rajasthan and presently resident of Khatiwala Tank area were caught while betting online on IPL tournament.
17 mobile phones and 5 laptops were recovered from their possession and accounts of online betting transactions worth about 5-6 lakh rupees have also been found from the arrested accused, in relation to which interrogation and further action is being taken against the accused.
