A woman fell unconscious mid-air on a Thai Lion Air flight from Bangkok to Ahmedabad after the aircraft’s air conditioners stopped functioning due to a technical snag soon after take-off. The flight was diverted back to Bangkok where the passengers were shifted to another aircraft, resulting in a significant delay.
While the incident of the AI-171 crash is still afresh in people’s minds, the passengers of Thai Lion Air’s flight no. SL-212 were taken aback after the aircraft’s AC stopped functioning shortly after take-off. The flight operated by Thailand’s low-cost carrier had departed from Bangkok’s Don Mueang International Airport (DMK) for Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport (AMD) at 10.03pm with around 140 passengers.

While multiple passengers felt dizzy, sources said that a female passenger felt unconscious a few moments after the ACs stopped working. Following the incident, the flight was diverted to its origin airport DMK where the aircraft was announced to be not fit to fly.
After the passengers created a scene at the airport, the airline arranged for an alternate aircraft to complete the journey to AMD. However, the passengers were not told about the technical issue faced by the aircraft.
The Free Press Journal contacted Thai Lion Air but did not receive any reply till the time the news was published.
