Whenever Pakistan makes false allegations of human rights violations in Jammu and Kashmir at the UNSC, it faces embarrassment. Recently, images of repression by the Pakistani army emerged from PoJK to Balochistan.
Whenever Pakistan raises the issue of Jammu and Kashmir at the United Nations, it faces embarrassment. Pakistan once again raised the issue of human rights violations in Jammu and Kashmir at the UNSC, prompting India's Permanent Representative, P. Harish, to lash out at Pakistan. The Indian ambassador stated, "We appeal to Pakistan to end human rights violations in the illegally occupied territories, where the people are openly revolting against Pakistan's military occupation, repression, brutality, and illegal exploitation of resources."
Indian envoy Harish said, "I would like to emphasize that the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir has been and will always remain an integral and inalienable part of India. The people of Jammu and Kashmir exercise their fundamental rights in accordance with India's democratic traditions and constitutional framework. We certainly know that these concepts are alien to Pakistan."
Indian envoy mentioned Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam
The Indian envoy emphasized India's commitment to Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, viewing the world as one family and advocating justice, dignity, and prosperity for all. He said this is not only the foundation of our worldview, but also the reason why India has consistently advocated for justice, dignity, opportunity, and prosperity for all societies and peoples.
Questions raised about the relevance of the United Nations
Addressing the UN Security Council open debate, the Indian Ambassador highlighted the contributions of the United Nations since World War II, and addressed questions about its relevance, legitimacy, credibility, and effectiveness.
Ambassador Harish said, “The topic of this debate has become extremely important at a time when the world's largest multilateral organization (the United Nations) is facing questions about its relevance, legitimacy, credibility, and effectiveness.” The Ambassador further explained how the organization has worked to eradicate colonialism and has become a beacon of hope for international peace and security.
