On the extradition of Tahawwur Rana, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) said on Thursday that Tahawwur Hussain Rana, the main accused in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, has been brought to India after being "successfully extradited" from the US. Officials said that Rana, a 64-year-old Canadian citizen of Pakistani origin, was brought to Delhi on a special plane on Thursday evening, ending the speculation that had been going on for several days about when and how he would be extradited.

The NIA said in a statement that this extradition has happened after years of continuous and concerted efforts to bring the main conspirator of the 2008 Mumbai attacks within the ambit of the judicial process. 166 people were killed in the horrific attacks carried out by 10 Pakistani terrorists in Mumbai on 26 November 2008.

The statement said, "The NIA, with the active assistance of USDOJ, US Sky Marshals, worked closely with other Indian intelligence agencies, NSG during the entire extradition process, including the Ministry of External Affairs and Ministry of Home Affairs of India and also coordinated with other relevant authorities in the US to bring the case to a successful conclusion.
