A horrifying case has surfaced from Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, where a woman has accused her husband of drugging her, filming an obscene video, and demanding ₹10 lakh to delete it. The woman alleged that her husband and in-laws had been harassing her since marriage, forcing her into repeated humiliation and blackmail.
According to the complaint, the couple’s dispute had reached the village panchayat, which led to a temporary settlement. However, tensions rose again after her husband, who works at a Sitapur factory, became involved with another woman. The victim said her husband wanted to marry his girlfriend and had been tormenting her to leave him.
Drugged and Filmed Without ConsentThe woman alleged that her husband executed a planned conspiracy. One day, he gave her a sedative-laced drink, causing her to lose consciousness. During that time, he recorded an obscene video of her. She claimed that he later began using the video to blackmail her, threatening to post it online unless she paid ₹10 lakh.
On Monday, the distressed woman reached the Gorakhnath police station in tears and pleaded with officers for help. “Sir, please help me. My husband made an obscene video of me. Now he says he will delete it only if I give him ten lakh rupees,” she told police.
History of Dowry HarassmentIn her written complaint, the victim revealed that her husband and in-laws had been demanding dowry since their marriage. They had beaten her and expelled her from the house multiple times. A settlement had previously been reached in 2016 after community intervention, but harassment resumed soon after.
Police have registered a case at Gorakhnath police station. Station in-charge Shashi Bhushan Rai confirmed that the matter is being investigated by Sub-Inspector Ajay Kumar Srivastava. Authorities are examining all aspects of the allegations, and strict action is expected once the inquiry concludes.
