Your blood group will tell you when you will have a stroke? Prepare to avoid danger before it happens

In this study, researchers found that people with 'A' blood group may have a slightly higher risk of having a stroke before the age of 60, while this risk was found to be the lowest in people with 'O' blood group.

A new study by the University of Maryland School of Medicine has revealed an important fact. It found that your blood type can signal the risk of stroke, especially before the age of 60. This research has been published in the JAMA Neurology journal, which explains the possible causes of stroke.

Relationship between blood group and stroke

In this study, researchers found that people with 'A' blood group may have a slightly higher risk of having a stroke before the age of 60, while this risk was found to be the lowest in people with 'O' blood group. The risk of people with 'B' blood group was between 'A' and 'O'.

The researchers collected data from 48 studies around the world, involving a total of 17,000 stroke patients and about 6 lakh healthy people. They focused mainly on ischemic strokes, which occur when blood flow to the brain is disrupted.

Why this connection?

Scientists believe that blood type may be related to certain factors that increase the tendency to form blood clots or affect blood vessels. For example, people with 'A' blood type may be slightly more likely to develop blood clots, a major cause of stroke. However, more research is needed to understand how this relationship works.

Increased risk of stroke before age 60

Another important point of the study is that this association was particularly evident in younger strokes (strokes occurring before the age of 60). This does not mean that all people with 'A' blood group will have a stroke, but it may just be an additional risk factor that needs to be paid attention to. With age, other factors such as high blood pressure, diabetes, smoking and obesity become major risk factors for stroke, which may reduce the effect of blood group.

Pay special attention to these things

  • Don't panic: If you have blood type 'A', it doesn't necessarily mean you'll have a stroke. It's just a potential risk factor; it may have less impact than other factors.
  • Be aware: This study helps us understand the risk factors for stroke better. If you belong to the 'A' blood group, you should pay more attention to your overall health.
  • Adopt a healthy lifestyle: The most important thing is to always adopt a healthy lifestyle to reduce the risk of stroke. This includes:
  • Keeping blood pressure under control
  • Managing diabetes
  • Avoiding smoking and alcohol
  • Maintaining a healthy weight
  • Exercising regularly
  • Eating a nutritious diet
  • Talk to a doctor: If you are concerned about any risk factors for stroke, consult your doctor. They can give you the right advice based on your condition.
