Lebanon Gets First Tranche of India's Humanitarian Assistance

Beirut, Lebanon: India has delivered the first batch of humanitarian assistance to Lebanon as part of a larger medical support package intended to aid the country amid escalating regional conflicts. On Thursday, India's Ambassador to Lebanon, Noor Rahman Sheikh, handed over the initial consignment of medical supplies to Lebanon’s Health Minister, Firas Abiad, in Beirut.

The Indian Embassy in Lebanon shared, "First tranche of India's humanitarian assistance arrives in Beirut. Lebanon's Health Minister received the consignment of medicines in the presence of Ambassador Noor Rahman Sheikh. India remains committed to deepening ties with Lebanon.”

The first tranche, weighing 11 tons, is part of a 33-ton shipment of essential medical supplies India has sent to support Lebanon. This consignment includes a variety of pharmaceutical products, such as cardiovascular medications, NSAIDs, antibiotics, and anesthetics.

Lebanon’s Ambassador to India, Rabie Narsh, expressed gratitude for India’s swift response, stating, “India is our longstanding friend. Since the early days of this conflict, India has extended its humanitarian support without hesitation.”

Narsh also voiced concerns about the conflict in the Middle East, urging the United States to reconsider its support for Israel and act to prevent further escalation. He said that the U.S. could influence the situation by holding Israel accountable and helping end the violence.

"Netanyahu has been accused of war crimes by international courts, yet remains heavily supported by the U.S.," Narsh added, underscoring the role of international accountability in addressing ongoing tensions.
