became a firm fan favourite when she kickstarted her career as a presenter on A Place in the Sun in 2015. The 38-year-old remained on the Channel 4 programme for almost seven years before announcing her decision to quit. Opening up about why she decided to leave, Scarlette exclusively told Express.co.uk that she felt it the right time as she was getting too busy with other work.
She said: "I left that show in 2022. I'd been doing it for about six and a half years but I was getting so busy doing other shows. I do a lot of property shows with my brother now. We've got Worst House on the Street series three coming out. We've just done Bake Off which is great. We've got a brand new series coming out in July. But things were getting so busy." Speaking at the Smiley Charity Film Awards, the presenter continued: "I was on A Place in the Sun for six and a half years, I cut my teeth on that show, I learned my craft on it. It was amazing but I think it was the right time to move on and do some other things."
Scarlette's role on A Place in the Sun meant she was able to travel to various different locations across Europe, helping house hunters find their dream property.
However, like any job, plenty goes on behind the scenes that viewers don't get to see.
"It's really hard. People obviously think it's beautiful, it is great. But it's a 47-minute show that takes five days to a week to film. There's a lot that goes into it. It's hard work," Scarlette confessed.
She continued: "You can't wear sunglasses or a hat. You just about have time to drink some water. You keep going and going and going, so as much as it looks glamorous, it's actually a really difficult show."
The same year she left A Place in the Sun, Scarlette took on a new challenge as she headed Down Under to compete in I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!.
Off the back of that, she landed a hosting role on , occasionally presenting the entertainment bulletin for viewers.
She now works closely with her brother, retired footballer Stuart Douglas, with the siblings running a property development company together. In 2022, they teamed up to present Worst House on the Street, which follows the duo as they help families transform run-down houses into dream homes without breaking the bank.
They recently competed in a celebrity edition of hit ITV quiz show The 1% Club, which will air later in 2025 in celebration of charity football match Soccer Aid.
Teasing what fans can expect from the episode, Scarlette admitted: "It is a lot of pressure, especially when you're there in the audience. But it was a lot of fun and for me, I just wanted to beat my brother and I did so it was all good."
