The ITV sensation Britain's Got Talent has seen a wealth of operatic talent over its 18-year run, with standout acts such as Paul Potts and Susan Boyle catapulting to stardom after gracing the stage. Back in 2012, audiences were utterly astonished by the teenage operatic duo Jonathan and Charlotte, who left Simon Cowell flabbergasted enough to utter a shocked "Seriously?"
The youthful performers, just 17 and 16 years old, enraptured the judges from the start, delivering a poignant rendition of The Prayer. In his classic straightforward style, Simon suggested that Jonathan may be better off alone, hinting at Charlotte potentially holding him back. Undeterred by his comments, the pair remained united and even switched their name order before competing in the nail-biting live finals on the unforgettable evening of May 12, 2012.
Sadly, after a remarkable journey, they narrowly missed the crown, becoming runners-up to winners Ashleigh and her talented dog Pudsey - a verdict that left their dedicated fans outraged.

Riding high from earning second place from an initial pool of 70,000 contestants, an ecstatic Charlotte said, "Oh my God, we came second out of 70,000 people, it's incredible, it's been amazing".
The next morning, there were rumours suggesting Simon Cowell was on the verge of offering Jonathan and Charlotte a lucrative £1 million contract with his record label Syco.
By September 2012, their debut album Together landed in stores, showcasing Italian language takes on classics by music legends including Elton John, Muse, and Queen.
After enchanting Europe on a successful tour and hitting the charts with yet another number one, singing stars Jonathan and Charlotte reached a crucial point in their professional partnership. By February 2014, the pair decided to go their separate ways as tempting solo deals from Sony Classical proved too alluring to resist.
Jonathan and Charlotte released an emotional statement on their official website, reminiscing about their shared path since their school days: "We have had the most exciting journey together ever since meeting at West Hatch High School in 2006 and are so happy for each other."
The duo looked back on their rise to fame as Britain's Got Talent finalists and top-selling musicians with fondness: "To come second on BGT and sell over quarter of a million albums was beyond our wildest dreams."
They eagerly announced their individual endeavours and expressed sincere thankfulness to their supporters: "To now be offered our own solo record deals by Sony Classical is the most exciting thing ever and we are thrilled to be going back into the recording studio so soon."
Most importantly, they acknowledged the unwavering dedication of their fans: "For those that voted for us, bought our CDs and saw us in concert - thank you. We hope to see you soon at our own shows. Love Jonathan and Charlotte."
Charlotte went on to pursue new ventures, fuelled by her love of performance, and has been wowing audiences in musical theatre. Her stage credits include "Carousel in Concert" at The Royal Festival Hall and the original West End production of "Heathers".
She recently gained popularity on after sharing her Britain's Got Talent story in a viral video, jokingly captioned: "Simon Cowell hated me but then he got me Kurt Geiger's for xmas."
In the video, she pokes fun at being compared to the famous Charlotte from 'Jonathan and Charlotte', quipping "probably because I am".
Charlotte's latest stage appearance was in Todrick Hall's "Midnight" in early April, and she took to Instagram to express her delight: "This show has been one of the most fulfilling and rewarding shows I've ever worked on."
Meanwhile, Jonathan is working on his next album following a global tour and performing in his Essex hometown. He topped the charts with his solo hit album, Tenore.
In heartfelt gratitude shared with fans on social media, he said, "Your kindness in allowing me to explore all kinds of music and your superlative taste in good tunes has led the way!!"
In recent news, Jonathan has been turning heads with his remarkable five-stone weight loss journey. Openly struggling with discipline in the past, he confidently stated, "I've still got a lot to lose but I'm making my way. I feel stronger and healthier than I have in 10 years, which is a lot."
Describing his lifestyle transformation this year, he remarked: "This year I've made an active choice. I've felt I've lacked the discipline a lot. When I was out in America it's fast food everywhere."
He spoke candidly about overcoming tough times, saying, "I was in a terrible state in the start of the year and I've been able to claw my way back doing light exercise."
Reflecting on personal growth and taking charge, Jonathan shared a powerful message: "For a long time I was just experiencing life, letting life live me, trying to find the next pleasure. Taking control of your own life, grabbing the world with your hands, feels amazing."
