Corrie's Maureen Lipman makes devastating death admission: 'Like to go as she did'

Dame Maureen Lipman opened up about her own mortality as she reflected on her life and career in an unearthed interview. The 79-year-old spoke candidly about her health where she made a surprise admission. When quizzed on whether she would like to live forever, the actress flat out replied: "No". The Coronation Street actress, who recently took a break from Weatherfield, admitted she would like to go like Elsbeth Juda. The photographer, born in Germany, died aged 103. Maureen told the Daily Mail in 2022: "The most interesting person I ever met was the photographer Elsbeth Juda, who lived to 103."

Maureen continued: "I'd like to go like she did, having a foot massage and listening to Schubert." The TV star also opened up about her previous health woes she has faced over the years where she admitted to having things removed from her body.

"I had two Caesareans for my son and daughter, a hysterectomy and the removal of a neurofibroma (a benign tumour at the top of my spine)," she shared in the same interview.

Maureen added: "Oh, and my tonsils as a child."

The Corrie legend recently announced her plans to marry again as she announced her engagement to business consultant boyfriend David Turner.

Maureen revealed she was the one who popped the question to her partner, also 78, while attempting to make a joke on a train journey.

Maureen wrote in the Spectator: "Later that night my partner David and I decided to tell our children that, with a combined age of 156, we are going to get married.

"In truth I had been rather against the 'M' word, but on a train coming back from Edinburgh he mentioned that it was the minor festival of Tu B'Av - a day when a Jewish woman can ask a man to marry her.

"Unable to resist the gag, I slid under the table separating us onto one knee and asked him for his hand. To my surprise and slight panic, he gave it."

The actress was married to TV scriptwriter Jack Rosenthal for 30 years until his death in 2004 and they welcomed daughter Amy, 50, and Adam, 48. David also has three children from a previous relationship.
