Brits face airport queues, hundreds of engineering projects on the railway networks and road closures over the weekend. More than 19 million people are expected to drive on Good Friday alone, the AA said, and many others will travel for their Easter break via trains and plane.
But the Bank Holiday weekend is likely to cause travel misery for many. Network Rail prepares to carry out more than 300 engineering projects. Among the reduced and cancelled services to be expected is the link between Milton Keynes and London Euston, which will see no trains running on Saturday and Sunday and a reduced timetable during the bank holidays. And with millions of drivers planning on travelling on major routes, motorists have been advised to prepare for congestion. The heavy rain forecast by the may also cause disruption. In the run-up to the Good Friday bank holiday, many Brits have already started their break, with pictures emerging from Manchester Airport showing queues forming.
