According to data compiled by , dozens of are pushing towards completion, many with eye-watering budgets and record-breaking capacities. Among the most ambitious is the Grand Stade Hassan II in Morocco, which will be one of the biggest stadiums on the planet when it's finished. Costing an estimated £381 million, it's designed to hold around 115,000 spectators and is expected to be ready by late 2025.
But Africa isn't the only continent seeing stadium booms.
Europe is witnessing huge redevelopments too - with Valencia's long-delayed Nou Mestalla finally aiming for completion, and Strasbourg's historic Stade de la Meinau undergoing a major revamp.
Meanwhile, in Asia, countries like China and Saudi Arabia are racing ahead with several multi-million pound projects, as sport continues to grow rapidly across the continent.
Even some of the world's most iconic stadiums, such as Barcelona's Spotify Camp Nou and Mexico City's legendary Estadio Azteca, are undergoing massive upgrades ahead of future international tournaments.
