I'm not a big fan of censorship... but I'm prepared to make an exception in the case of Glastonbury chancers Bob Vylan. Despite the ongoing fall-out from their appearance at the Somerset festival, the pair of numbskulls remain on the bill for next month's five-day Boardmasters surfing and music festival in Newquay. The pair are already facing a police probe after their performance in which frontman Pascal Robinson-Foster led chants of "Death to the IDF" and "Free Palestine".
They have been dropped from the bill at upcoming music festivals in Manchester and France, as well as a scheduled gig in Germany. Quite reasonably, many locals in Cornwall don't want them anywhere near the Boardmasters festival on August 10. They fear the pair may use their appearance in front of a "young and impressionable" crowd to sow more division. It's hard to disagree. Let's hope organisers see sense.
BTW, anyone else gobsmacked that the BBC's head of music - who has been forced to step back from her role in the wake of the Glastonbury debacle - reportedly earns an annual salary of £215,000?
Lorna Clarke is among a number of senior staff who have temporarily withdrawn from day-to-day duties covering music and live events. She had been stood down to focus on the investigation into why the BBC failed to cut the feed during Bob Vylan's appearance.
But that salary? Talk about nice work if you can get it.

Oasis kicked off their massive reunion tour over the weekend, delighting tens of thousands of fans. I'd have loved to have seen them if I wasn't feeling so poorly. Noel and Liam Gallagher are two of rock's most brilliant - and entertaining - stars and we need them more than ever amid a tidal-wave of bland, over-produced music. Welcome back, lads.

Finally, some direct action against the migrant boats! French police are using knives to puncture dinghies destined for British shores before they can leave the coastline. It's part of a new strategy to deliver tougher action and, hopefully, should help stop the needless deaths we've seen at sea in recent months. A simple and utterly effective tactic. It's good news overall. In fact, I've only got one thing to ask: What took them so bloody long?

Well done Parliament for banning Palestine Action. Now let's make the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, whose evil tentacles reach deep into part of Britain, a proscribed organisation as well. We have got to fight back against these malign influences who have been allowed way too much headroom in our society before it's too late.

RIP Diogo Jota whose life was cruelly cut short in a case accident last week. From everything I've read, the late Liverpool star sounds like the epitome of a great sportsman and a gentleman. In an age when so many sportspeople are pampered, egotistical show-offs, it only heightens the tragedy of his death aged just 28. Go well, sir.
