A crown court trial has begun into accusation that a horse riding instructor engaged in sexual activity with a 26-year-old woman and child.
The man and woman were in Cardiff Crown Court yesterday, on trial for engaging in penetrative and non-penetrative sexual activity with a girl aged under the age of 16. 37-year-old Guy Simmonds and Lauren Jarvis, 26, both pleaded not guilty.
On Monday, after the jury was sworn in, prosecutor James Hartson detailed the six charges Simmonds, a horse riding instructor, is facing in relation to penetrative and non-penetrative sexual activity. Jarvis is accused of one charge of non-penetrative sexual activity.
The 12 jurors were told that Simmonds had first made acquaintance with the under 16 and later introduced her to his co-accused, with whom they had a threesome.
WalesOnline reports Mr Hartson telling the court that the pair were aware of the victim's age but "did not care when they were engaging in a so-called threesome".
Mr Hartson added: "At all times he knew how old she was, as did Jarvis. She told him herself in one of the very first messages she sent him."
The jury were read texts between the two defendants which Mr Hartson said showed them "clearly agreeing to a pact of silence" when they heard the alleged victim may have told someone about their sexual activities.
In the messages, Simmonds said: "Hey, I have a feeling that [name of alleged victim] has said about us. If anyone asks for sake of both of us nothing ever happened that night xx."
Jarvis replied: "Hey, who's she told? Oh god has she really, what's she trying to do, make our lives hell? Of course I will xx."
Mr Hartson told the jury that whilst they were alone at the stables, Simmonds would regularly take the girl into a horsebox where he would physically touch her and penetration would take place. The jury heard that at one point this was happening every couple of days when Simmonds' girlfriend was away.
The last time they had sex was in January, 2024 when they had a threesome in Jarvis's home, which Mr Hartson said the 26-year-old had participated "willingly" in.
Messages read to the jury showed Simmonds asking Jarvis when he should "pop over" for the threesome and Jarvis agreeing that it was "absolutely fine" with her.
In a later message Simmonds checks whether the girl is there yet. "I don't want to turn up at the same time that her mum drops her off," he said, the court was told.
Further messages read to the jury heard the alleged victim asking Simmonds whether he fancied a threesome before she asked what he was going to make them do. Simmonds replied: "You will both do what daddy says."
Guy Simmonds, of Acacia Avenue, Undy, and Lauren Jarvis, of Allt-Yr-Yn Court, Newport, deny engaging in sexual activity with a minor. The trial continues.
