Inside Novak Djokovic's £8.5m Marbella mansion as star hit with fines over renovations

The Marbella Council opened a case after learning that the renovations went against Andalusian Land Law over the height, number of floors and minimum boundary distances of the property. As a result, Djokovic has been required to demolish certain completed parts, such as the basement parking area and a porch.

After receiving the initial £4k fine or failing to make the required changes in line with planning regulations within a two-month deadline, the Serb has received another £4k fine for the same reason.

According to Marbella 24 Horas, via , he was notified of the penalty on February 13 and has also been warned that failure to address the issues could lead to further action, including up to 12 successive fines.

Djokovic purchased the Marbella mansion for £8.5 million in 2020. The Moroccan-style property features eight bathrooms and special additions like a spa and home cinema.

He boasts an impressive property portfolio, with homes spanning from his native Belgrade to New York City. However, his most recent acquisition was five years ago when he invested in a luxury villa in Marbella.

The 24-time Grand Slam champion spent the majority of the Covid pandemic renting the mansion before seizing the opportunity to buy it. He has since chosen to make it the primary residence for himself and his family.

With a few days off before his next tournament, Djokovic will undoubtedly be keen to return home and spend time with his wife and two children. His Marbella property, equipped with a private tennis court and a large gym, allows him to continue training.

The property also features a massive swimming pool with sun loungers in the garden, allowing the world No. 5 to unwind in the spa, complete with a sauna and Turkish baths.

The mega-mansion, boasting nine bedrooms and eight bathrooms, provides ample space for Djokovic, his wife Jelena, and their children Stefan and Tara.

Djokovic's stunning Marbella residence boasts a Spanish villa charm with its white furniture, marble floors, and arched doorways. The tennis ace's home cinema is a highlight, featuring a massive screen, projector, comfy red sofa, movie posters, and mood lighting.

The 37-year-old treasures his Marbella abode, often using it as a training retreat away from the tennis circuit. He wrapped up his pre-season there in late 2023, praising the Costa del Sol in November. "It's one of the most beautiful places in the world," he remarked.

"I love the fact you have sun all year round which for a tennis player doesn't get much better than that in terms of weather in Europe."

The Serbian star highlighted the perks for tennis players in Marbella, noting: "For tennis players coming here in different seasons of the year you can always play outdoors which is important because you have the first tournaments of the season starting in the summertime in the open air in Australia."

Djokovic recently and will be back in action at the Madrid Open later this month. With the tournament kicking off on April 23, Djokovic will enjoy some downtime in his sunny Spanish haven before vying for his season's first title in the capital.
