Liverpool complaints raised as Dutch journalists 'denied entry' to title celebration

There were no representatives from the Netherlands in press section against , according to reports, a move that has frustrated those from homeland. The press box was packed on the biggest day of the season at Anfield, but if the Reds boss was hoping to speak to a familiar face or voice from the media contingent, he would have been left waiting.

Slot became the first Dutch head coach to win the and Liverpool's captain, , also skippers the Netherlands national team. They have three players from the country in their squad with Cody Gakpo and Ryan Gravenberch also.

But the claim that not a single Netherlands-based reporter was successful in their accreditation application, a move that has been received negatively and a complaint is set to be lodged with the Football Writers' Association.

Even the country's version of the was not permitted to enter Anfield. Those who missed out claimed that such a snub does not happen to them at any other 'big' club in England.

The Dutch representation was large during the Anfield party, with Slot and Van Dijk front and centre of celebrations. The defender got visibly emotional during a first rendition of You'll Never Walk Alone after the title win.

While Slot, moments before being drenched in alcohol by his squad, paid a classy tribute to and - mirroring the welcome he was given by his iconic predecessor.

"Because of what he did before I even arrived, I think that is something not even one manager did before so that is something that helped me," Slot explained. "But apart from that, he helped me even more by the team he left behind and the culture he left behind in that team.

"The quality the players have was, I think, obvious for everyone. But the culture of hard work, the culture of not only from the players, but also from the staff members, has been incredible."

In the first on-pitch interview conducted by after full-time, Van Dijk said: "It's special and something we don't take for granted. It's amazing what today was. A lot of emotions before the game. We got the job done and truly deserved champions of England.

"This is the most beautiful club in the world. I think we deserve all of this. We are going to enjoy the next couple of weeks and let it sink in."

A historic day at Anfield was also roundly celebrated in the Netherlands, such is their strong connection via Slot, Van Dijk, Gakpo and Gravenberch. But Dutch reporters were forced to keep their coverage at a distance, their relationship potentially soured on an otherwise perfect day for the club.
