Teenage wonderkid Diego Leon is set to join Manchester United and he has already offered a strong warning to his new team-mates. The Red Devils have already completed a pre-contract deal for the Paraguayan, with an official club announcement expected in early July. There has been much discussion about whether the left-back would feature for Ruben Amorim's side this season, or go out on loan and enjoy first-team football elsewhere.
But Leon has made his stance on the matter perfectly clear. He plans to join up with the squad and then some, stating he is going to "kill it" in pre-season and become a big part of the team before the summer is over.
United already have several players who can cover the left wing-back slot in Amorim's favoured 3-4-3 system, including Patrick Dorgu, Diogo Dalot, Luke Shaw and Harry Amass.
But the Paraguay Under-20 international, set to join from Cerro Porteno, is not fazed by the task of usurping those four established players and instead appears to be relishing the opportunity to rock the boat.
"I'm really happy, I think every player dreams of this," Leon told Versus in the airport ahead of his move to Manchester. "When you're a professional, you have to adapt quickly, it is a massive opportunity.

"Everyone thinks I'll go out on loan, but I don't have that mindset. I'm going to kill it in pre-season and within one or two games, I'll already be playing with them."
Leon's father Basilio, also spoke before boarding their flight and revealed the advice he gave to his son: "'Don't mess around, my son. Make the most of these four years. Don't make mistakes', I told him."
Leon, who has only made 42 senior appearances in his career, could be involved when United start their pre-season against Leeds on July 19. They will then feature in the Premier League Summer Series event in the United States with West Ham, Bournemouth and Everton, before taking on Fiorentina on August 9.
According to the Manchester Evening News, Leon completed his United medical in January but a move stipulated that he would arrive in the summer. The Red Devils are paying an initial £3.3m fee for his services, which could rise as high as £7m with add-ons.
The 18-year-old is signing a five-year contract at Old Trafford and the club believe he has the potential to reach the first team.
Amorim has made it clear that wing-backs are a vital part of his system, which so far has flattered to deceive in the Premier League, and forked out £25.2m to sign Dorgu from Lecce in January.
