During his federal trial on Thursday, May 29, a peculiar culinary preference of Sean "P Diddy" Combs came to light.
The embattled music tycoon is facing a courtroom battle over five federal charges, including racketeering and sex trafficking, to which he has entered a plea of not guilty and refuted all allegations.
A one-time member of Diddy's staff took to the witness box on Thursday, divulging under oath to defence lawyer Marc Agnifilo that Diddy has a penchant for slathering applesauce on his cheeseburgers, eschewing the more conventional condiments like ketchup or mustard.
This unusual gastronomic habit surfaced as the ex-aide detailed how Diddy utilised his Black AMEX card, the prestigious American Express Centurion Card known for its six-figure annual spending requirement. He recounted how Diddy instructed his team to use the card for any of his whims, be it baby oil, yacht charters, or opulent holiday homes.
Agnifilo's inquiry into the applesauce led to the revelation: "Mr. Combs loves applesauce and eats it on the side or on top of a lot of things," reports
The former employee elaborated, "Cheeseburgers being one of them."
But applesauce wasn't the sole topping discussed in the courtroom; another past assistant mentioned Diddy's fondness for American-branded ketchup.
It was noted that when travelling to the UK, Diddy would import US ketchup, convinced that the British variety didn't measure up.
He divulged a peculiar detail about applesauce, with Agnifilo probing, "Were you aware he put applesauce on his cheeseburgers?" to which came the revelation, "I was not aware, but I knew he liked applesauce."
In court scenes straight out of a drama, it emerged that Diddy's rather unconventional cheeseburger garnish caused quite the stir among the jury, per Daily Mail reports.
One juror couldn't hide their distaste, reportedly making a "gagging gesture" as the topping choice was announced.
The trial's surprises continued when on Thursday, a former female assistant who went by "Mia" for anonymity purposes recounted a gruelling experience where she claimed Diddy was responsible for her five-day sleep deprivation.
In her testimony, she recalled, "I can usually power through but I remember when I was younger waking up for school, 'ok you get out at 3 o'clock you can sleep then'. I remember thinking I'd been awake for two days. I didn't have anything to hold onto for when I could go to sleep."
