Smoke could be seen for miles in a horiffic blaze at an industrial estate in Northamptonshire this morning. Firefighters rushed to the scene in Rushden after the fire broke out on Friday, May 23, with thick plumes of black smoke billowing into the air over Sanders Lodge industrial estate.
A spokesman for Northants Fire and Rescue said crews were called shortly before 6.30am and at one point in the response there were eight appliances at the scene using water jets to try and prevent the fire from spreading.
People were urged to avoid the area and find alternative routes while the emergency services dealt with the fire. Locals were also advised to keep their windows and doors closed due to the smoke.
