A beautiful Spanish seaside city renowned for its iconic Gaudi architecture and bustling food markets is home to the most expensive drink in the country. A whopping 15.5 million holidaymakers stayed overnight in Barcelona during 2024 with tourists making up 14% of the city's economy and providing 150,000 jobs.
The bustling city is jam packed with iconic sights from the Sagrada Familia and Park Güel to its stunning beaches that provide the perfect backdrop to relax and enjoy a cocktail or two. Tourists visiting one of Barcelona's most iconic waterfront bars will want to have deep pockets as cocktails can cost over £850 and are even paired with gold. Attracting a crowd on the hunt for sophistication and luxury, Shôko Restaurant & Lounge Club is located in the stunning setting of Port Olímpic of Barcelona.
Dubbed as one of the 'world's finest clubs' the exclusive bar has launched a signature cocktail valued at £869 (€1,000). The drink, dubbed Time in Your Lips , is being created for guests seeking an out-of-the-ordinary experience.
Behind this expensive creation is mixologist Yeray Monforte , who has designed a recipe based on Gran Patrón Bordeaux tequila , Louis Roederer Rosé Cristal 2022 champagne and a cordial with 25-karat liquid gold.
This luxurious drink comes paired with fresh Normandy oysters and beluga caviar. Shôko says the pairing "reinforces the idea of extreme luxury and transforms the moment into a complete gastronomic ritual".
Creating a playful mix of textures and flavour guests can expect each sip to elevate their rich tastebuds.
Guests who don't have nearly £900 to fork out on one cocktail can instead opt for a classic cocktail such as a Banana Colada , Berry Mojito and Mango Caipirinha which will set you back a mere £14 (€16) in comparison to the Time in Your Lips cocktail.
Shôko, which attracts international artists such as Bad Bunny, has alos received an award for environmental sustainability from Barcelona Turisme.
Last year it was named among the top 10 of the best clubs in the world , according to the prestigious list The World's 100 Best Clubs 2024 .
It also reached fifth place worldwide in The World's 100 Best Clubs 2023 list. according to the International Nightlife congress held in Barcelona.
