Affordable staycations found in the UK are high on many travel lists in 2025. Alongside cost-effectiveness, the sheer convenience of many UK holiday spots allows for a stress free getaway that also allows bringing along your pets to get in on the action.

One UK region has come out on top in new research, thanks to a costing only £65 for two people and with spring finally making its much-needed arrival, it's been dubbed the ultimate spot. This seaside city boasts of a budget-friendly vacation offering all the hallmarks of a spring getaway without breaking the bank.

New research by , the credit card brand, further looked at high appeal by analysing numerous metrics which included popularity, rainfall, average temperatures and accommodation costs.

Using these metrics, Aqua then compiled the top ten best staycations in the UK with Plymouth being crowned the top budget destination for 2025.

The city's natural harbour location on Plymouth Sound and its ideal proximity to the coastline and Dartmoor National Park provide a delight for all who visit with beautiful scenery throughout and perfect opportunities for outdoor activities.

Plymouth is also home to an array of museums, art venues and shopping malls keeping you busy all day, even earning itself the title of Devon's cultural capital.

Sutton Harbour is well worth a visit and is home to the National Marine Aquarium, with the Mayflower Steps also coming in highly recommended, which is where the Pilgrim Fathers set sail for the New World back in 1620.

Visitors can also explore Smeaton's Tower lighthouse, taking in the panoramic views of the coastline.

One review on TripAdvisor wrote of the magic of Plymouth and said: "Lovely area with plenty of bars and eating places with narrow cobbled streets and a stunning waterfront.

"Plymouth has long held a special place in many Brits' hearts thanks to its rich maritime history, ideal waterfront location and a vibrant culture scene to boot."

Being such close proximity to both countryside and the sea, it often ticks all the boxes and is one of the most desirable region's to visit.

Another added: "A fantastic place to visit. I could spend hours here with plenty of individual shops, many eating places and a bridge to take you to the aquarium, the largest in the UK."
