A brand-new Chinese car has been described as a "half-price Range Rover" with the SUV almost identical to the iconic British marque. From the outside, the Jaecoo 7 looks almost like a carbon copy of a Range Rover Velar but the Chinese model has a much cheaper price tag.
The Jaecoo 7 officially launched in the UK in 2025 with sales starting earlier this year. Models can be picked up for just under £30,000, around £25,000 cheaper than a Velar, which starts from around £55,000. TikTok user @Dylanscarreviews made the assessment after getting hands-on behind the wheel with the Jaecoo 7.

Speaking on TikTok, Dylan said: "This is a Chinese SUV that looks like a Range Rover Velar but it's a fraction of the cost and a lot more reliable. I spent a week with this Jaecoo 7 to find out if it's any good or just a cheap copy."
The Jaecoo comes with two trim levels with motorists able to pick between the Deluxe and Luxury models.
The Deluxe is offered as a two-wheel drive 1.6-litre petrol model fitted with a range of tech such as a 13.8-inch touchscreen, a 360-degree camera and parking sensors for £29,435. 'Luxury' trim costs £32,850 on the all-wheel drive 1.6-litre petrol model, while the plug-in hybrid design starts at £35,065.
The model is also fitted with some extra luxuries such as a bigger 14.8-inch touchscreen, a heated steering wheel and an eight-speaker Sony sound system.
@Dylanscarreviews added: "Chery has a 50/50 joint venture with Jaguar Land Rover in the UK and that's how they get away with looking so similar. Outside looks very premium with this rear privacy glass, a floating roof effect and these roof rails.
"Inside is brightened up with a panoramic roof and every surface is coated with these soft materials and this soft synthetic leather wrap around the steering wheel. This is an absolute bargain and I'm honestly so impressed by it."
However, road users appear to be excited by the Jaecoo, with motorists admitting they have been impressed.
@paularnell8 said: "I test drove the petrol AWD and thought it was great. I prefer the inside of those to the hybrid which looked cheap inside."
@vic_2024_vic added: "I've got a petrol one and I absolutely love it."
@laineymack27 posted: "I love mine. I got mine in March and I honestly love it."
