Police have released photos of late Gene Hackman's Santa Fe home - much to the shock of ITV presenter . The host was standing in for on the Scottish presenter's self-named show when she explained that photographs had been released showing the home that the 95-year-old actor and his wife, Betsy Arakawa, 65, were found dead in back in February.
Speaking to entertainment editor before showing the bodycam footage from police officers, Kate sadly said: "They're quite shocking these aren't they? And I think we were so shocked, Ross, because we loved so much and it feels a bit sad." Ross replied with a simple three-word statement, saying: "It's incredibly sad."
He then went on to explain that authorities are still trying to figure out exactly what happened in the home leading up to the deaths of the actor and his wife.
"They're trying to piece together all of the evidence and figure out what happened," the correspondent shared. "They have released this body cam footage that was taken outside, and also inside the house as well. The outside was infested with and some where inside too."
Ross went on to share that the home was a "breeding ground" for hantavirus - the rare illness that is thought to have caused Betsy's death.
As the presenters were speaking, the ITV show cut to footage of Hackman's home. It showed a very lived-in look, with clutter all over the floor and sideboards as police officers walked through the kitchen and hallways.
Parts of the house appeared unkempt with clothes tossed around on chairs, dry cleaning with the bags still on crammed into a big closet and paper bags lined the kitchen floor while some rotting fruits and vegetables were left out on a counter.
Ross added: "It is just so sad. We've said it so many times, he was just a true screen legend. One of the finest actors that has ever been produced and such a sad loss."
Authorities found the deceased couple in their home in February. It is believed that Betsy died a week before her husband, who was in the advanced stages of Alzheimer's disease.
