Fitbit's vital hydration feature could prove useful as London hits 28 degrees in heatwave

Fitbits are a popular pick for active wearers, those looking to track their every move in the gym, steps at home, or simple workouts. As the UK braces for another scorcher day, as it reaches highs of 28 degrees today, there's a tracking feature on some wearables that could come in handy.

Known for their reliable fitness stats, shoppers can pick up a Fitbit model for a lot less than the likes of Apple and Samsung Galaxy Watches, which can cost as much as £400 each. Like Amazon's Fitbit Inspire 3 deal - now reduced to £69 - or the Fitbit Versa 4 from Argos.

Bundling in fitness and health features, there's one thing users can log to keep an eye on their hydration - something many might be paying close attention to in this heat. And that's tracking the amount of glasses of water wearers drink each day.

Fitbit devices offer a hydration tracking feature, which allows wearers to keep a note of their water intake and set reminders to stay hydrated. On most models, including the cheaper Inspire 3, this is all done via the mobile Fitbit app and not from the watch interface, but that's different for the Vera 4 - as it can be done from the face.

Slightly pricier than its predecessor the Versa 2, priced at £179, the Versa 4is able to track more than 40 workouts, including HIIT and running, and has more smartwatch features than other fitness-only models. Users can receive messages, and it even has a built-in microphone so you can answer calls - it has to be connected to the Fitbit app and phone via Bluetooth to do this.

A downside to the Versa 4 compared to other smartwatches is that users can't make calls. However, a perk, compared to other models, is that both iOS iPhone and Android users can use it.
