Tallahassee: Amendments 3 and 4 failed in Florida as Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump registered victory in the US state. Notably, these amendments needed at least 60 per cent public approval to pass. The development was confirmed by Florida's Governor Ron DeSantis in his X post. Amendment 3 Amendment 3 would have allowed recreational use of marijuana by adults of 21 years or older. It would have allowed adults to possess, purchase or use marijuana up to three ounces. For the unversed, the amendment was reportedly approved by the Florida Supreme Court on April 1 this year. It acquired over 1 million voter signatures. As per the law in Florida, marijuana is allowed only for medical purposes. Amendment 4Meanwhile, Amendment 4 aimed to enshrine abortion rights in the constitution of Florida.Amendment 4, known as "Amendment to Limit Government Interference With Abortion," states that, "no law shall prohibit, penalize, delay, or restrict abortion before viability or when necessary to protect the patient's health, as determined by the patient's healthcare provider."However, Florida failed to cross the 60% voter approval needed to pass constitutional amendments in the state. "The result is a momentous victory for life in Florida and for our entire country," said Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of SBA Pro-Life America, an anti-abortion group.
