Israeli specialist Dr. Chen Kugel, who assisted the autopsy on Yahya Sinwar's body, told The New York Times that the Hamas chief died due to a gunshot injury in the head. He added that a shrapnel had hit Sinwar in the arm, resulting in bleeding. The 61-year-old tried to stop the bleeding with the help of an electrical cord.Dr. Kugel further stated: "But it wouldn't have worked in any case. It wasn't strong enough, and his forearm was smashed."On Friday, Khalil al-Hayya, deputy leader of Hamas, confirmed the death of his chief on television. "We are continuing Hamas's path," he said. Al-Hayya then added that the leader might have fallen, but "the banner will not fall."Al-Hayya's remarks come after President Biden stated that Sinwar's killing would bring "an opportunity to seek a path to peace" in the Gaza war that has been going on for more than a year.President Biden spoke to Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, whose office informed that both the leaders are looking forward to a chance to "advance the release of the hostages" who were kidnapped during the October 7 attack.Slain Hamas chief Yahya Sinwar is believed to be the mastermind behind the October 7 massacre in Israel that claimed about 1200 lives and resulted in over 250 people being taken as hostages.Israeli Prime Minister said that he would continue the war with Hamas. In a video address, he stated, "This is not the end of war in Gaza. It is the beginning of the end."
