India wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson has reiterated that 'intent' remains the main game plan behind the Indian team's success in the shortest format, after smacking a brilliant hundred against South Africa on Friday in Durban. Over the last two months, he has scored three hundreds, including one in the Duleep Trophy and Samson is definitely in one of his best patches. Samson's 107 off 50 balls against the Proteas, his second T20I hundred in as many matches after his 111 against Bangladesh in October, has helped him to brush off the tag of an underperformer.Often panned for not realising the bounty of talent that he is, Samson became the first Indian batter to smack consecutive hundreds in T20Is as his 50-ball-107 with as many as 10 monstrous sixes took India to 202/8 in 20 overs.
"Enjoyed my time out there in the middle. I made maximum utilisation of my current form you can say. The intent, we have been talking about being aggressive and keeping the team ahead of yourselves. Once you play three-four balls you are looking for the boundary," Samson said at the post-match presentation ceremony. "I'm not thinking much, sometimes it pays off, sometimes it doesn't. I am happy it worked out well today," Samson added. In reply, it was spinner Varun Chakravarthy (3/25 in 4 overs), who killed the contest by getting Heinrich Klaasen (25 off 22 balls) and David Miller (18 off 22 balls) in a space of three balls in the 12th over with the Proteas being shot out for a paltry 141 in 17.5 overs. It reminded one and all of the famed T20 World Cup final from late June between these two teams but much like then, Klaasen and Miller couldn't ultimately pull South Africa through.
