Prayagraj: Entry to Prayagraj Junction from Smith Road on the Civil Lines side of the station will now be completely closed for the next four months. This restriction for commuters was implemented from Monday. The railway administration made this decision due to redevelopment work on the Civil Lines side of the Junction, which is being revamped under Amrit Bharat stations of the country.
During this period, the route from foot over bridge number one to two located on Smith Road will remain completely closed. Passengers entering the station through Smith Road will now have to use alternative routes through Gate No. 3, Gate No. 4, and the one made beside the Coral Club. The railways started working on the redevelopment project on the Civil Lines side of Prayagraj Junction in August 2023. Under this project, a multi-storey concourse building is being constructed in this part of the station, which will also include state-of-the-art passenger facilities, waiting rooms, toilets, escalators, lifts, ticket counters, and commercial complex. Apart from this, foot over bridges, circulating areas, road widening, green areas and other structural changes are also being made to improve passenger facilities.
During the period of restriction, passengers will be able to reach platform numbers 4, 5, 7, 8, 9, and 10 from Gate No. 3, while Gate No. 4 will be used by those passengers who want to go to other platforms.t nn
