Acting on a complaint lodged by Hemant Bichhale, who resides near the police outpost in Sanjay Nagar, Shahjehanabad police registered a case on charges of snatching against the named accused, and launched a manhunt.
On Friday around 6 pm, while returning home on foot, Hemant reached the lane opposite Kamla Devi Hospital when two known individuals, identified as Pawan Satnami and Mohit Rathore, allegedly intercepted him.
Before Hemant could react, as per the complaint, the accused took out his mobile phone from his pocket. The phone's cover also contained Rs 250 in cash. Hemant shouted for help, but the accused fled the scene with the mobile phone.
After reaching home, Hemant informed his mother, Dharmibai, and other family members about the incident. He later approached Shahjehanabad police and lodged a complaint against the two accused.
