UDHAGAMANDALAM: A leopard strayed into a police station in Naduvattam, 30 km away from Ooty town, on Monday night.
A forest officer said, around 8pm, the leopard entered the police station, located on a national highway near the Naduvattam bus stand.
“The leopard entered a corridor and then went into a room inside the station. Fortunately, out of shock, the police personnel on duty did not react much and the leopard soon walked out of the station,” the officer said.
S Gowtham, district forest officer (DFO), Nilgiris division said, “The leopard came to the bus stand chasing a stray dog and lost track of the dog after which it entered the police station.” The wild animal left the area and later went into the forest on its own, he added.
