Jaipur: A special CBI court in the city Friday rejected the bail plea of Babu Lal Katara, a suspended member of Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC), in connection with the paper leak in the Grade-II teachers recruitment exam 2022. Katara is in jail for the past two years in this case.

The court dealing with CBI cases observed that enough evidence exists against Katara in this case. It also cited the rejection of bail by Rajasthan High Court in similar cases of other accused. "The high court rejected the bail plea of the other accused in the case," said the court in the order uploaded Saturday, ruling that Katara is not entitled to bail.

On Feb 24, a single bench of the HC, while hearing the bail petitions, had clearly said that the leak of papers of public exams has a bad impact on society. Considering all the facts, circumstances and the crime of the accused, the HC had observed that it was not appropriate to grant the accused the benefit of bail.
