Kota: A 17-year-old girl allegedly died by hanging herself from a ceiling fan at her residence under Borekheda police station in the city, Saturday. The deceased girl was reportedly under academic pressure, however no suicide note was recovered from her room.
The deceased, identified as Pratishta Mahawar (17), resident of Pragati Vihar, was a Class 11 student of biology stream.
The girl allegedly took her life by hanging herself from a ceiling fan at approximately 11.45 am Saturday, while her mother was at the market and sister at the library, police said.
When the mother returned home, she discovered her hanging from the ceiling fan, they said.
According to family members, Pratishta aspired to appear for entrance examinations to pursue a degree in medical science. However, she had not enrolled in any coaching institute and was pursuing self-studies, alongside school. She was reportedly experiencing depression and stress due to studies, however, she left no suicide note, said circle inspector, Devesh Bhardwaj at Borekheda police station.
Her father is employed as a railway training school teacher in Katani in Madhya Pradesh, he said.
Police released the body to family members after a post-mortem examination later in the day and registered a case in the matter.
