RAIPUR: The Chhattisgarh State Sub-Junior FIDE Rating Chess Championship will be held in Bemetara from May 15 to May 19, 2025, in collaboration with the Chhattisgarh Pradesh Chess Association.
The championship will serve as the state selection tournament for national-level competitions in the Under-7, Under-9, Under-11, and Under-13 age categories. Two boys and two girls from each age group will be selected to represent Chhattisgarh at the national level, according to Association Secretary Vinod Rathi.
Matches for the Under-7, Under-9, and Under-11 categories will be played on May 15 and 16, following international norms in a seven-round Swiss League format. Trophies will be awarded to the top three players in both boys' and girls' categories, and players securing 4th to 6th places will receive mementos.
The entry fee is Rs 500, and Rs 250 for players from Bastar and Sarguja divisions. The last date for registration is May 8. All participating players will receive medals and e-certificates.

This event, scheduled from May 17 to May 19, will comprise eight rounds and offer young chess players an opportunity to gain or improve their international FIDE ratings.
