Tollywood star Ram Charan's career took a glorious turn with SS Rajamouli’s RRR in 2022, which won an Oscar and a Golden Globe. Even after becoming a global star, a rather surprising detail about him is now winning hearts on social media — his wife, Upasana Konidela, recently revealed his strong attachment to Indian cuisine.
No matter where in the world he travels, he takes a cooker with him, as he insists on having at least one Indian meal every day.
Entrepreneur Upasana Konidela, who recently had a candid conversation with Masoom Minawala on her YouTube channel, opened up about how Ram’s consistent need for home-cooked food led to an unexpected yet meaningful business idea for her mother-in-law, Surekha Konidela.

“My husband has to eat Indian food wherever we are in the world. One meal has to be Indian,” Upasana said. “We try our best to search for good restaurants, but there are some staples that he loves. So my mother-in-law has turned those staples into ready mixes. We take a cooker wherever we go. We put it in the shower, plug it in so we don’t set off the fire alarm — and voilà, you have home-cooked food,” she added.
According to her, Surekha Konidela had been preparing these ready mixes for her husband, megastar Chiranjeevi, and later for their son, Ram Charan, over the years. These mixes eventually laid the foundation for a homegrown food brand.
Despite the growing reach of the venture, Upasana emphasised that financial success was never Surekha's goal. Ram's mother has always cherished the fulfilment that comes from doing something meaningful for her family. As per Upasana, the homemade food initiative has also helped uplift several local women and female farmers in the region.
Meanwhile, on the professional front, Ram Charan was last seen in Game Changer opposite Kiara Advani. Directed by S. Shankar, the film did not perform well at the box office. The actor is now immersed in shooting for Peddi, helmed by Buchi Babu Sana and featuring Janhvi Kapoor in the leading role.
