The highly anticipated trailer for 'Dune: Prophecy' was unveiled on Friday, and fans were treated to the exciting news that the show will premiere on Max next month. Lead actress Emily Watson and showrunner/executive producer Alison Schapker attended the event at New York Comic Con, where the trailer was played to a chorus of cheers and applause from the audience.
During a panel discussion with fans and media, Watson took the opportunity to praise her co-star, Tabu, and tease her pivotal role in the series. Though Tabu’s appearance in the trailer was brief, Watson hinted at a more significant presence for the acclaimed actress as the series unfolds. "She (Tabu) is like Julia Roberts in India," Watson said to the audience. "She is the most astonishingly beautiful actress. She makes an appearance a little further down the line, and it’s truly something to look forward to."
Producer Alison Schapker added, "Tabu is an icon. You saw her in the trailer. It's going to take a couple of episodes for her to make an appearance, but when she does, it's really fitting. As someone who comes in later in the season and claims her space. So we are thrilled."
Set 10,000 years before the events of the feature films and the birth of Paul Atreides, 'Dune: Prophecy' will delve into the origins of the sisterhood, tracing their ascent to power. The show will centre on two sisters from the formidable Harkonnen family, who are instrumental in the founding of the Bene Gesserit. Emily Watson and Olivia Williams will portray the two sisters, with the series set in a galaxy ruled by Emperor Javicco Corrino (Mark Strong) and Empress Natalya, alongside their descendant, Princess Ynez.
The cast includes Faoileann Cunningham, Aoife Hinds, Chloe Lea, Tabu, Charitra Chandra and Jade Anouka as members of the emerging sisterhood. 'Dune: Prophecy' premieres on November 17 on Max.
