Haley Joel Osment, the actor who gained fame as a child star in The Sixth Sense and appeared in movies like A.I. Artificial Intelligence, Forrest Gump, and the series The Boys, was reportedly arrested earlier this month.

According to a report by WION, citing People magazine, the arrest happened on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at a ski resort located in Mammoth Lakes, California.

Authorities stated that Osment was taken into custody for public intoxication and for allegedly possessing a controlled substance. A source informed People that the substance is suspected to be cocaine, but added that it has been sent for lab testing, and the exact results will be known soon.

Sergeant Jason Heilman from the Mono County Sheriff’s Office gave an update on the situation. He confirmed that the 36-year-old actor had been booked for the charges but was no longer in police custody. He emphasized that the arrest was based on suspected public intoxication and drug possession. As of now, the Mono County District Attorney’s Office has not officially filed charges, and the case is still under investigation.

This is not the first time Osment has had run-ins with the law. In 2018, he was reportedly involved in a public dispute at the McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas. Even earlier, in 2006, when he was 18, he was arrested after being involved in a car crash. He had sustained injuries and was later charged with drunk driving and marijuana possession. He chose to plead no contest to the charges, which resulted in him being sentenced to three years of probation.

The recent incident adds another legal issue to Osment’s record, and fans are now waiting to see if formal charges will be pressed. Authorities mentioned that the investigation is ongoing and further action will depend on test results and the findings of the District Attorney’s office.
