There’s growing buzz about a sequel to the 2004 comedy 'Mujhse Shaadi Karogi', which originally starred Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, and Priyanka Chopra. The sequel, tentatively titled 'Mujhse Shaadi Karogi 2', is said to feature Kartik Aaryan and Varun Dhawan in the lead roles.
Kartik Aaryan & Varun Dhawan in talks for sequel
According to a report by Pinkvilla, Kartik Aaryan and Varun Dhawan are currently in discussions to star in 'Mujhse Shaadi Karogi 2'. The film is expected to be produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, who also backed the original 2004 hit. However, an official announcement is still awaited.
No truth to sequel talks
Despite the buzz, reports of Kartik Aaryan being in talks for 'Mujhse Shaadi Karogi 2' are not accurate. A source told Hindustan Times, “The rumours of Kartik being in talks for Mujhse Shaadi Karogi 2 are untrue. The actor is currently busy with filming his current project and has a few more in the pipeline that he wants to wrap up first.”
Kartik busy filming
The 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2' star has been shooting for Anurag Basu's untitled film with Sreeleela in the North East throughout April and May. Several photos and videos from the sets, featuring Kartik in his film look, have surfaced on social media, showing his busy schedule away from any new project talks.
Not part of 'Mujhse Shaadi Karogi' sequel
A source confirmed that the actor is not involved in 'Mujhse Shaadi Karogi 2'. “Kartik is currently focused on solo-led films because he believes that’s the path best aligned with his growth and the space he’s carved for himself. It’s not about avoiding ensemble or multi-hero projects, it’s about the confidence he has in his vision. He’s among the most intelligent actors today, and his choices reflect that, the source stated."
Recent and upcoming films
He has not been part of a multi-hero film since 'Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety' (2018) alongside Sunny Singh. However, he has enjoyed significant box office success with the 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa' franchise, with both parts grossing over ₹600 crore worldwide.
Upcoming films
In addition to his project with Anurag Basu, the actor has two highly anticipated films in the pipeline. He will star in Karan Johar's fantasy film 'Naagzilla', and also in 'Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri', directed by Sameer Vidwans and produced by Dharma Productions. Both films are set to release in 2026.
